OUR HISTORY NUESTRA HISTORIA
|
Vida Covenant Church was founded by Rev. Hugo Zelaya in 1987. Other pastors who formed the founding presbytery included Manuel V. Montez, Angel Gonzalez, and Cliff Mullen. The new church was the first hispanic church founded in the Northwest Houston Area.
“Covenant” became the focus of the church’s theology because:
God Himself is a covenant-making, covenant-keeping God.
The Bible is a series of covenants.
The constitution for Christian and church life is the New Covenant in Christ’s blood.
“Covenant” describes the quality of love God gives to us and that we are to give to one another.
Covenant love is self-sacrificing and enduring for the preservation of the common good. It is the quality that holds all things together. This love is the motive for Christ’s death on the Cross so that we might be saved and reconciled to God, for the preservation of family life, and for the establishment and preservation of the Church. It was the covenant love of Jesus that called us together as a spiritual family and has sustained us over the years.
In 1998, Vida Covenant Church purchased the property at 6300 Queenston Blv. where our new facilities will stand.
In 2004, Hugo Zelaya returned to Costa Rica, where he oversees the Fellowhip of Covenant Ministries and Churches and founded La Iglesia del Pacto Esperanza Nueva. At this time, Manuel B. Montez took over the duties as Senior Pastor.
Throughout our existence as a church, we have focused on classic orthodox Christian theology, worship, pastoral care, the kingdom of God, family life, and spiritual power.
“Celebrating 20 years of ministry in 2007!”
